Too often we take for granted the fact that we live in a virtual triathlon paradise. Very few places offer the year round training grounds that we have here in the Tampa Bay area. Yes, we may have to don the occasional wet suit or actually put on a long sleeve jersey to ride, but the vast majority of the time the sun is shining and the temperatures are more than adequate to allow us to pursue our passions. Just think of all the poor triathletes stuck indoors on their trainers, running on treadmills and longing to get back into the sea (or lake or river) the next time you are out swimming at Pass-A-Grille, running Bayshore Blvd. or riding the Suncoast Parkway in December with no shirt on! We are truly privileged to call Tampa bay home and we should not forget that. Take advantage of your surroundings every chance you get and don’t forget what a multi sport haven we live in. I am a Midwesterner born and raised but have proudly called myself a Floridian for the past 5 years and believe me when I say to you – that means a lot to me.
